Spiritual Life from Paul

by Phil Tolbert

"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe" (Eph 1:18-19).

Paul's letter to the Ephesians exhorts believers to experience three important things in their spiritual lives that he experienced personally. As a good mentor, he desires those he is leading to follow his example.

Evil's Plan for Your Life

by Joe Carroll Evil has a plan for your life.  Evil has schemed against you in your past, is working against you in the present and fully intends to harm you in the future.  There may have been times when you have felt the darkness of evil’s presence.   And yet in our day to day lives, it is easy to be unaware and oblivious to evil’s intent and existence.  Unfortunately, such oblivion does not negate evil’s virulent impact in our lives. Evil’s plan is to hurt and to harass you…to haunt and to harm you. Evil wants to embitter and enslave you… to damage and degrade you.

The Value of Discomfort

By Steve Stoner

I can’t recall ever talking to anyone who had just returned from a mission trip, a Walk to Emmaus, Tres Dias or an ACTS Retreat who wasn’t profoundly impacted by the experience.  In many (most?) cases the impact was so life transforming that they found themselves unable to adequately capture the experience verbally.  It is as if only by having been through a similar experience could anyone else understand.  “You just had to be there” is often the only way to answer the question: “So, how was it?”

Inspiration or Transformation?

By Joe Carroll

The Bible was given to transform us, not just to inspire us. The Scriptures are inspired and are inspiring. Yet the Good News is not just to give us Good Views, but to open a pathway for change…for a deep change…for a histological transformation. Transformation does not occur without inspiration; but inspiration can occur without transformation.

Heaven's Tears

There will be tears in heaven.  Isaiah prophesied it. In Revelation, John testified to it.  “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth... I saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them…He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’"
